live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. the alleged high priced call girl called in the death of a high-tech executive appears in santa cruz court and says she is not guilty. alix tichleman answered to the charges against her looking dramatically different. the prosecution say she got it wrong, she never wanted the 51-year-old to die, forrest hayes. katie marzullo joins us in superior court. katie? >> her family was there in court to support her as alix tichleman pleaded not guilty to challenges

against her. that includes charges related to drugs, prostitution, and manslaughter. the approximate say she killed forrest hayes a married father of five but her attorneys paint a very different picture. >> 26-year-old alix tichleman presented a different face to the judge this morning wearing almost no makeup, compared to last week's dark eye liner and bright lipstick. the ton said she was pleading not guilty to all charges including manslaughter. she spoke only to answer the judge's questions about her rights. [ inaudible ] >> her parents and sister were in court. >> one of her tones had plenty to say in defense of theally call girl. first, that she did not intend to kill 51-year-old google executive forrest hayes. he asked, why would she want him dead? >> he was a lucrative source of income to her and she appreciated his generosity and

she had a motive, if any, to elongate, not help the relationship. ought police say alix tichleman is a recent institute hired by forrest hayes and therapy on his yacht in november and she gave him a fatal dose of her reason and left him to guy. the prosecution could bring more serious charges against her. the two were consenting adults in drug use and he is not to blame for what happened. >> she is like a under worked bird. he is not as bad as the media makes her out. she is a sensitive kid with adduction to heroin. >> there is surveillance video from inside the yacht the day that he died but the tones on both sides have seen it and they will not talk about it. the judge denied a request to reduce alix tichleman's bail so it stays at $1.5 million and the next court date is october 20.

new today, san francisco police say that this woman robbed an eight-year-old girl outside a convenience store on monday, she and two others were selling candy in the western edition. she did not have enough money to buy beer and left but moments later she twisted the girl's arm until the girl dropped the bag of money and detectives say the woman grabbed it, ran off and got away on a bus. neighbors are helping. a business owner is going door to door asking for cash to replace the stolen money. >> now the weather. high clouds and sunshine mixture around the bay area. this morning, a much different story with light showers an the bay area. this is heavy drizzle before sunrise this morning. our news crews captured this on ocean street. meteorologist mike nicco is showing us what is going on, on live doppler 7 hd. >> good morning, everyone, if the broadcast center, where you

can see the clouds are breaking just like yesterday from south to north. you may notice it is more humid today than it was yesterday. this led to some measurable drizzle this morning, .01" at spring valley and grizzly peak and that is as let as we go measuring. the current radar and satellite show live doppler 7 hd the clearing developing in the central valley. it is of intoing our way like yesterday. unlike yesterday most of the moisture now is going to start shifting the focus to the northeast and that is why we have a flash flood warnings in the sierra, not only today but, also, tomorrow. drizzle like this is possible. it will be because of the marine layer that will have more influence on the forecast. details on that are in the seven-day forecast. thank you, mike. state investigators say that the chevron refinery in richmond had an early morning fire that did not result in injuries. it renewed concern over the

plant that had a human fire two years ago. amy hollyfield is at the refinery with more news. chevron and fire official say it was a small fire but watchdogs say that doesn't make them feel safer. the mayor of richmond tells me this is just another indication of the risk the people in rip pond live with every day. >> richmond firefighters rushed in to help the chevron fire department at 2:00 this morning when a fire started in a refinery small processing unit. a spokesman said that there was never a threat to the citizens of richmond and it was a small fire and no one was hurt. she refused to talk an camera but said while preparing a non-ational area for maintenance work using a specialized hose and steam a leak and small fire occurred that was extinguish at 2:59 am. the fire chief explained by phone what happened. >> we are not certain why, but

there was heavy oil that leaked through this block they had in place and while they tried to do the maintenance it heated to 400 degrees so when it hits the air it ignites in the air. this was a fire. >> four firefighters ended up with oil on their clothes and had to go through decontamination process. they are sending the firefighters to the hospital to get checked. >> here we go again. >> critics of chevron were disappointed but not surprised to hear of the fire. many lost trust in chevron after the 2012 fire at the refinery that caused thousands of people to seek medical treatment. this morning's fire is classified as "small and harmless," activists are not baying it. >> these are not accidents these are predictable instances that occur when management fails to maintain the refinery at the highest conditions of safety. >> the fire chief says there is in reason to worry about what happened this morning.

evidence. >> the uc board of regents is talking about security on all campuses. this is after the recent mass murder in the college town of uc santa barbara in may. eric thomas joins us from san francisco. eric? >> a lot of things they are talking about but this afternoon, napolitano will update regents on the work being done by a task force in the violence and sexual hard v.a. on the uc system but gave us a preview. napolitano said the system is still in shock from the deadly attack by uc uc santa barbara student who killed half a dozen and wounded several more. the tack first will issue a report on preventing such incidents in the future including checking for improved security and mental health screening and say they aim to be the leaderren with it comes to combating sexual harassment.

the death toll from the tire find in the philippines is at 12. ma fill that was spared a direct hit but trees were toppled and thousands lofts electricity, and roofs were torn off. this is the 7th major storm to hit the philippines this year. italy's foreign minister said hamas should reconsider the cease-fire. a hamas spokesman said the group is not interested in a cease-fire with egypt negotiated. this comes as israeli airstrikes continue in gaza. palestinian officials say four children were killed during an israeli naval attack and 200 palestinians have been killed, one israeli has died as a result of rocket attacks. >> 28 people on a flight to hong kong were hurt when there was severe turbulence on the flight from johannesburg and here is the damage where people were known to their seat. some hit the overhead compartments. the turbulence hits as they

will win out. we have the clouds streaming in from the southeast keeping us muggy. this is how it looks in san jose the first area to see sunshine. we are clearing from south to north. this is how it looks from south beach with the clouds hanging on and breaks developing right now. partly sunny, muggy, cloudy the next couple of nights as the marine layer is deeper bringing us another chance or two of drizzle especially among the coast. the humidity will drop on friday and the weekend highs will start climbing. that is the transition. temperatures are in the mid-60's to nearly 70 until the south bay, low-to-upper 70's to los gatos at 78 and low-to-upper 70's in the east bay valley, also. here is a look at that is going on, high pressure to the north and low pressure to our south, the flow between those is evacuating some of the moisture from the mountains and bringing it our way. you can see it exhausting the moisture, the monsoon flow so we

are muggy. it is also a reason why we are keeping the temperatures down because of the cloud cover. mid-80's through the south bay. 72 in millbrae. up to 80 on the if peninsula. mid-to-upper 60's in the coast and downtown and south san francisco. check out the east bay, berkeley at 70 and the castro valley is 80 degrees today and the muggy air could make you turn on the air conditioning in the east bay valley as we hit the low-to-upper 80's. tonight, another stuffy night with upper 50's to low 60's and plenty of cloud cover and drizzle. at noon today, watch the clearing try to move. it does not make it to the north bay, north to the coast, watch the wind shift tomorrow at 7:00 in the morning we are dealing with low clouds and there you go, the humidity is dropping, the clouds are clearing, we will cool just a little bit tomorrow in the seven-day forecast and maybe a couple of degrees here or there and friday well start
